Today was a day I knew very well before my mom passed away. Nanny and I have been taking 1 day every week for the past 4 and a half years to spend together. On a typical spring day I pick her up by 11am or so. We go to the same McDonald’s as always. She orders a fish sandwich, I the meal with an extra cup for water. We chat about everyone else and Doctor Phill. Today we finished with a Sunday! Hers chocolate, mine caramel. Exact change always, $2.12. Some how our meal always comes out a few cents different every time. Weird!
Today we got to talking about the bug to go flower shopping. I mentioned that I wanted to take my camera with me when we did. She said she wanted to go to our norm, Home Depot. Same every spring. But today we just wanted to look. I knew better. So we stopped by the house to grab my camera. She feels silly when I photograph her in public. So old fashion!
Off to Home Depot we went. And of course she bought a ton of flowers. This is our favorite time of year together! Once we were done there we went over to grocery shop at the Giant. She really hates it when I bring the camera into the grocery store. At one point I said I was probably going to drive her crazy today with the camera. Laughing she replied with a “yes” as though I was already past that point. Regardless, we have a blast together and she puts up with me. I love the time I get to spend with her! And if you know me at all you have heard about her amazing family dinners on every holiday, birthday or event. As well as Wednesday night dinners EVERY Wednesday night since we got married. We see a lot of each other.
Old habbits feel so good.

Last Tuesday some friends and I couldn’t wait to go and see Sandy Puc’s Tots to Teens seminar Baltimore. I signed up last year for her tour and had to give my ticket away at last minute to go home to Ky. Wow, I was not prepared for how absolutely amazing she is. I’ve heard how great Sandy, also known as Sam, was but to experience it your self! I was wowed! Her journey to get where she is today is so inspiring. Her energy is contagious. And if you know me, I’m not so sure I need more then I already have. Her and I could do some real damage in a padded room with a rubber duck! Ok, if you haven’t heard her talk about the rubber duck you have no idea what I am talking about.
She is on her second year of a FIVE year tour!!!!! I can’t wait to go to the others. Not only is she a talented photographer and strong business woman, she has a huge heart for charity! She is the founder of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep amongst many others. Truly inspiring!
There is not a dull moment in her seminar. It’s one day, 5 and a half hours of mind blowing growth, passion and laughter. So if she is coming to your town you don’t want to miss her! Would love to hear what you thought about it!

Yummy! I was really looking forward to Easter this year. A day away from the computer, good food and wiffleball. Yes, you heard me right. Once it gets warm we all get together and play wiffleball in the side yard. So fun!!!!
Laura, my siser-n-law thought it would be fun to take on Easter since it was her first year of marriage. I made that mistake at Christmas. She has vowed to never do it again until she has to. I don’t blame her! Here are a few images I love that best tell the story of the day.

Nanny, the true chef behind the scenes.

To many chiefs in the kitchen!

Such a teenager!

We all felt like this after dinner.

Whay does there always have to be some kind of ball game on every holiday?

Mike made me take this one. He has proof now!

My father-n-law disputing me taking his picture.

And the games begin!

My mother-n-law.

The past 2 months and 6 days have been both some of the best and worst days. As many of you know, my mother passed away on February 7, 2009 unexpectedly at the young age of 50. I miss her with all of my heart every day. I wanted to find a way to carry her with me everywhere. I had a bracelet with her image made. I love both images for very different reasons. The silly one is MY mom. My since of humor comes from her. Amongst many other things I have realized since her passing. The other is of her stunningly beautiful self. You can’t tell but she is sitting next to my father that she loved more then anything for 30 amazing years. Everyone that knew her was blessed by her smile and love. She always held friends and family so close. I assume that is why I feel so strongly about family always being first.
In honer of my my mother I am spending my first Mothers Day with out her in AZ photographing families in a woman’s shelter with their families. I am so grateful to have all of the images I have to cherish and look back at of my mother. It break my heart to think there are families out there that don’t have a single image of there family together. My mother had a heart for the less fortunate and taught us to help those in need. To use our talents in areas that were in need. She would get the most joy out of our conversations that spoke of dreams of helping others. So I know she would be proud. I’m doing this for you mom. I love you, every second of the day!

Here are a few I took at the rehearsal of my dear friends Lisa and Sean. The guys had been growing their facial hair for nearly a month in plan to shave it so they would have a mustache for the rehearsal to freak Lisa out. She knows us all to well. She didn’t fall for it. But did threaten to bring Nair to the wedding if they didn’t shave.

I had the pleasure of photographing Clair and Zach’s engagement session In Washington DC a few Sundays ago. I posted a slide show of it but wanted to share the full images. Here are a few of my favorites. They are such a cute couple. I had a blast with them. I left feeling like we were old friends! I also left wanting to get another pair of great heals. Love her shoes!
I wish you both all my love and the best of life together. I am so happy to have met you both!

We had some gusty winds but we made use of it. I love the wind in this image. She is so darn cute!

My favorite!

Amazingly, we had a really warm day in March.

The Cherry Blossoms are so beautiful at this time of year!
