One, two, gimmie three!

I had the great pleasure of photographing the Price family last Saturday in their home of Clarksburg, MD! It rained that day so as I did my check in call at 8:30am. Mom warned me that the children were hyper.  Well, if you know anything about me, I have a bit of energy as well!  Dad said I won by the end of the shoot! :)

We had a ball!  The moment I walked in the children ran to me! I had to keep reminding my self why I was there.  I wanted to just love and tickle them the whole time.  Their laughter filled the house! You could really feel the love in this home.  Mom and dad have so much love and laughter for these 3 little blessings of theirs.  I wanted to see how they would react to mom and dad taking a moment to their self.  Just what I expected! They tried crawling in between their legs and did what ever they could to get their attention.  I love capturing those moments!

The family LOVES to read!  So we got in mom and dads bed, as they do every night, to read a book about what happens when you give a mouse a cookie! The children loved it.  This was a book that mom didn’t let them hold them self.  So the moment we put it down one of them would snatch it up.  The eldest son read me his version of the book!  He had the cutest gibberish and at the end he would smile and hold it close to his face as though he was trying to eat the cookies! The best part was when he proceeded to do this very same thing over and over.  It was as though the story never ended.  LOVED IT!!!! While I was photographing the eldest daughter I heard this munching sound to my right.  I look over and the youngest is acting like she is eating all the cookies on the cover of the book.  I have never laughed so much!!!!

Thank you so much for inviting me into your home.  I really had a ball spending time and capturing your little ones moments!  Thank you!  Look forward to our next shoot here in a few weeks!

Steve and Katie

This weekend I photographed Steve and Katie’s Engagement Session in Old Town Alexandrea! Great friends of mine, Ari and Rosie of Reel N Motion joined us to capture some exciting footage! But, I can’t share it until after their October 17th wedding! If you are or aren’t looking for a videographer you should check him out.  I didn’t think much of videography until I met them and saw his amazing work that he is so passionate about! Amazing!

I am constantly telling everyone that I have the coolest couples. Lots of photographers say that but I truly love my couples. Steve and Katie are a great example. There is not a dull moment with these two. Even since our first conversation over the phone. You can’t help but smile and laugh with these two.

Obviously a stunning couple.  They have an amazing chemistry and so much passion for each other.  But through it all and what I love most about them is how much fun and laughter they have between them.  My cheeks and stomach hurt by the end of the shoot from all the smiling and laughter.  I am so happy to have met you both.  I have loved shooting and getting to know you both more and more through this amazing time.  I can’t thank you enough for trusting and allowing me to be part of it all. Looking forward to our bridal session!

Day With Nanny!

Today was a day I knew very well before my mom passed away.  Nanny and I have been taking 1 day every week for the past 4 and a half years to spend together.  On a typical spring day I pick her up by 11am or so.  We go to the same McDonald’s as always.  She orders a fish sandwich, I the meal with an extra cup for water. We chat about everyone else and Doctor Phill.  Today we finished with a Sunday!  Hers chocolate, mine caramel. Exact change always, $2.12.  Some how our meal always comes out a few cents different every time.  Weird!

Today we got to talking about the bug to go flower shopping.  I mentioned that I wanted to take my camera with me when we did.  She said she wanted to go to our norm, Home Depot.  Same every spring.  But today we just wanted to look.  I knew better.  So we stopped by the house to grab my camera.  She feels silly when I photograph her in public.  So old fashion!

Off to Home Depot we went.  And of course she bought a ton of flowers.  This is our favorite time of year together! Once we were done there we went over to grocery shop at the Giant.  She really hates it when I bring the camera into the grocery store.  At one point I said I was probably going to drive her crazy today with the camera.  Laughing she replied with a “yes” as though I was already past that point.  Regardless, we have a blast together and she puts up with me.  I love the time I get to spend with her!  And if you know me at all you have heard about her amazing family dinners on every holiday, birthday or event.  As well as Wednesday night dinners EVERY Wednesday night since we got married.  We see a lot of each other.

Old habbits feel so good.

Sandy Puc’

Last Tuesday some friends and I couldn’t wait to go and see Sandy Puc’s Tots to Teens seminar Baltimore.  I signed up last year for her tour and had to give my ticket away at last minute to go home to Ky.  Wow, I was not prepared for how absolutely amazing she is.  I’ve heard how great Sandy, also known as Sam, was but to experience it your self!  I was wowed! Her journey to get where she is today is so inspiring. Her energy is contagious.  And if you know me, I’m not so sure I need more then I already have.  Her and I could do some real damage in a padded room with a rubber duck!  Ok, if you haven’t heard her talk about the rubber duck you have no idea what I am talking about.

She is on her second year of a FIVE year tour!!!!! I can’t wait to go to the others.  Not only is she a talented photographer and strong business woman, she has a huge heart for charity!  She is the founder of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep amongst many others.  Truly inspiring!

There is not a dull moment in her seminar.  It’s one day, 5 and a half hours of mind blowing growth, passion and laughter.  So if she is coming to your town you don’t want to miss her!  Would love to hear what you thought about it!

Easter

Yummy! I was really looking forward to Easter this year.  A day away from the computer, good food and wiffleball.  Yes, you heard me right.  Once it gets warm we all get together and play wiffleball in the side yard.  So fun!!!!

Laura, my siser-n-law thought it would be fun to take on Easter since it was her first year of marriage.  I made that mistake at Christmas.  She has vowed to never do it again until she has to.  I don’t blame her!  Here are a few images I love that best tell the story of the day.

In Memory

The past 2 months and 6 days have been both some of the best and worst days.  As many of you know, my mother passed away on February 7, 2009 unexpectedly at the young age of 50.  I miss her with all of my heart every day.  I wanted to find a way to carry her with me everywhere.  I had a bracelet with her image made.  I love both images for very different reasons.  The silly one is MY mom.  My since of humor comes from her.  Amongst many other things I have realized since her passing.  The other is of her stunningly beautiful self.  You can’t tell but she is sitting next to my father that she loved more then anything for 30 amazing years.  Everyone that knew her was blessed by her smile and love.  She always held friends and family so close.  I assume that is why I feel so strongly about family always being first.

In honer of my my mother I am spending my first Mothers Day with out her in AZ photographing families in a woman’s shelter with their families.  I am so grateful to have all of the images I have to cherish and look back at of my mother.  It break my heart to think there are families out there that don’t have a single image of there family together.  My mother had a heart for the less fortunate and taught us to help those in need.  To use our talents in areas that were in need.  She would get the most joy out of our conversations that spoke of dreams of helping others.  So I know she would be proud.  I’m doing this for you mom.  I love you, every second of the day!

Friends - Lisa and Seans wedding!

Ah, our last close friend has got married.  My husband Craig has been friends with the same guys since high school.  Each of them have been in each others weddings.  Sean was our best man.  As it turns out all of us wives are very close.  In fact we are the ones to plan everything, not the guys.  It’s great having such great friends!

Being  a guest at a wedding was such a treat!  At times I didn’t know what to do with my self .  I got a good laugh out of how weird it was for me.  My husband had to remind me to put my camera down.

We are are so happy for you both and love you so much!  I guess the next step for us all is babies!!!!

Friends - Sean and Lisa’s Rehersal

Here are a few I took at the rehearsal of my dear friends Lisa and Sean.  The guys had been growing their facial hair for nearly a month in plan to shave it so they would have a mustache for the rehearsal to freak Lisa out.  She knows us all to well.  She didn’t fall for it.  But did threaten to bring Nair to the wedding if they didn’t shave.

Amy and Carlos E- Session

Finally!  The engagement images taken in DC of Amy and Carlos!   I met Amy and Carlos through a mutual friend’s New Years party.  They were there and started talking photography.  I had no idea they were engaged and looking for a photographer.  So we got to know each other a bit before talking business. And then even more so through our friends bachelorette party, bridal shower and then boogied together at  the reception following our friends wedding.  I have really enjoyed getting to know Amy and Carlos.  I love it when my clients turn into friends!

I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding and reception in Aug.  So there is a lot more to come.  We will be seeing Amy and Carlos again!  Thank you both for trusting me to capture your love and to document your special day.  I can’t wait.  I am so excited for you both!
